# 背景
津波（ツナミ）は日本語で「港の波」を意味する言葉です。これは、海洋や他の水域の表面が急激に垂直方向に変位することによって発生する波または波の列です。世界中で津波による死者は50万人以上に上り、そのうちほぼ半数が2004年のインド洋地震と津波によるものです！
# 内容
NOAA/WDS津波データベースは、紀元前2000年から現在までの世界中の過去の津波発生源と浸水地点の一覧です。これらのイベントは、科学的および学術的な資料、地域および世界規模のカタログ、潮位計データ、深海センサーデータ、個別のイベント報告書、および未公開の文献から収集されました。現在、このデータベースには信頼度が1以上の2000以上の発生源イベントと、津波の影響が観測された13000以上の浸水地点が記録されています。
