CORe50は、（C）物体（O）物体（Re）認識のために特別に設計されたもので、10種類のカテゴリに属する50個の生活用品の集合です。それらのカテゴリは、プラグアダプター、携帯電話、はさみ、電球、缶、眼鏡、ボール、マーカー、コップ、リモコンです。分類は、オブジェクトレベル（50種類のカテゴリ）またはカテゴリレベル（10種類のカテゴリ）で行うことができます。最初のタスク（デフォルトのタスク）は、同じカテゴリのオブジェクトを特定の姿勢で区別するのが難しいため、より挑戦的です。
このデータセットは、異なる背景と光条件を持つ11の異なるセッション（8つの屋内と3つの屋外）で収集されました。各セッションと各オブジェクトについて、Kinect 2.0センサーを使用して15秒間のビデオ（20fps）が記録され、300枚のRGB - Dフレームが得られます。
オペレーターは物体を手に持つことができ、カメラの視点はオペレーターの目の位置になります。オペレーターには、腕を伸ばしてカメラの前で物体をゆっくりと動かしたり回転させたりすることが求められます。把持距離にある物体の主観的な視点は、多くのロボットアプリケーションに適しています。この過程で、把持する手（左手または右手）は変化し、関連する物体の遮蔽は通常、手自体によって引き起こされます。

時間的に連続したセッション（すなわち、物体がカメラの前でゆっくりと動くビデオ）が存在することは、もう1つの重要な特徴です。時間的な滑らかさを利用することで、物体検出を簡素化し、分類精度を向上させ、半教師付き（または教師なし）のシナリオに対応することができます。
図1では、CORe50に含まれる50個の物体のサンプル画像を見ることができます。各列は10種類のカテゴリのうちの1つを表し、各行は異なる物体を表しています。完全なデータセットは、164,866枚の128×128のRGB - D画像から構成されています。つまり、11セッション×50物体×（約300）フレーム/セッションです。11のセッションのうち3つ（#3、#7、#10）はテスト用に選択され、残りの8つのセッションはトレーニング用に使用されます。トレーニングセッションとテストセッションの難易度を、屋内/屋外、把持する手（左手または右手）、背景の複雑さに関してできるだけ均等にするように努めました。データセットに関する詳細な情報については、論文の「CORe50」のセクションを参照してください。
