Pascal VOCチャレンジは、画像分類、物体検出、およびセグメンテーションのアルゴリズムを構築および評価するための非常に人気のあるデータセットです。
提供されるトレーニングデータは一連の画像で構成されています。各画像には注釈ファイルがあり、画像内に存在する20種類のカテゴリのいずれかに属する各物体に対してバウンディングボックスと物体カテゴリラベルが提供されます。複数のクラスの複数の物体が同一の画像に存在する可能性があることに注意してください。注釈は、すべての注釈者に配布された一連のガイドラインに基づいて行われます。画像のサブセットには、存在する各物体のピクセルセグメンテーションも注釈付けされており、セグメンテーション競技をサポートしています。
動作分類タスクの画像は、分類/検出/セグメンテーションタスクの画像とは重複しません。これらの画像は、人物、バウンディングボックス、参照点、およびその動作で部分的に注釈付けされています。注釈は、すべての注釈者に配布された一連のガイドラインに基づいて行われます。主要タスクとは切り離されたテストセットを持つ人物レイアウト試作品の画像には、部分的な人物（頭/手/足）が追加で注釈付けされています。データは2段階で提供されます。第1段階では、トレーニングデータと検証データ、および評価ソフトウェア（MATLABで記述）を含む開発ツールキットが公開されます。
検証セットの目的の1つは、コンテストへの提出前に評価ソフトウェアがどのように機能するかを示すことです。第2段階では、テストセットが実際のコンテストに提供されます。VOC2008 - 2011チャレンジと同様に、テストデータの正解データは公開されません。データは50％がトレーニング/検証用、50％がテスト用に分割されています。画像と物体のカテゴリ分布は、トレーニング/検証セットとテストセットでほぼ同等です。データベースの統計情報はオンラインで公開されています。
