このCSTR VCTKコーパスには、様々なアクセントを持つ109人の英語ネイティブ話者が発話した音声データが含まれています。各話者は約400文を読み上げており、そのほとんどは新聞から選ばれたもので、レインボーパッセージと話者のアクセントを特定するための誘導段落も含まれています。新聞の文章は、ヘラルド＆タイムズグループの許可を得て、グラスゴーの「ヘラルド」から引用されたものです。各話者は異なるセットの新聞文を読み上げており、各セットは文脈と音韻のカバレッジを最大化するように設計された貪欲アルゴリズムを用いて選ばれました。レインボーパッセージと誘導段落はすべての話者に共通です。レインボーパッセージは英語の国際方言アーカイブ（http://web.ku.edu/~idea/readings/rainbow.htm）にあります。誘導段落は音声アクセントアーカイブ（http://accent.gmu.edu）で使用されているものと同じです。音声アクセントアーカイブの詳細は、http://www.ualberta.ca/~aacl2009/PDFs/WeinbergerKunath2009AACL.pdfにあります。
すべての音声データは、同一の録音設定で録音されました。具体的には、全方位型のヘッドマウントマイク（DPA 4035）を使用し、24ビットで96kHzのサンプリング周波数で、エディンバラ大学の片側無響室で録音されました。すべての録音データは16ビットに変換され、STPKに基づいて48kHzにダウンサンプリングされ、手動で端点検出が行われました。このコーパスは、HMMベースのテキスト-to-音声合成システム、特に複数の話者で訓練された平均音声モデルと話者適応技術を用いた話者適応型HMMベースの音声合成のために録音されました。
