内容
アヤメの花のデータセット、またはフィッシャーのアヤメデータセットは、英国の統計学者で生物学者のロナルド・フィッシャーが1936年の論文「分類学的問題における複数測定値の利用：線形判別分析の一例」で紹介した多変量データセットです。[1] エドガー・アンダーソンが3種類の近縁種のアヤメの形態学的変異を定量化するためにデータを収集したことから、時にはアンダーソンのアヤメデータセットとも呼ばれます。[2] 3種類のうち2種類は、ガスペ半島で「同じ牧草地からすべて採取され、同日に採取され、同じ人が同じ装置で同時に測定されました」。[3]
このデータセットは、アヤメの3種類（ヒオウギアヤメ、バージニカアヤメ、バーシカラーアヤメ）それぞれから50個のサンプルで構成されています。各サンプルからは、萼片と花弁の長さと幅の4つの特徴がセンチメートル単位で測定されました。これら4つの特徴の組み合わせに基づき、フィッシャーは種を区別するための線形判別モデルを開発しました。
