データセットは、ウダシティが提供する選択肢の中から選ばれました。米国運輸省（DOT）の運輸統計局（BTS）は、大手航空会社が運航する国内線の便の定刻運行状況を追跡しています。定刻便、遅延便、欠航便、迂回便の数に関する要約情報は、DOTの毎月の航空旅客消費者報告書に掲載されており、この報告書は月の終了から約30日後に公開され、またこのウェブサイトに掲載されている要約表にも掲載されています。BTSは2003年6月から便の遅延原因の詳細を収集し始めました。要約統計データと生データは、航空旅客消費者報告書が公開される際に一般公開されます。
ここで使用されているデータセットは、1987年の米国内の便に関する報告であり、航空会社、到着遅延、出発遅延などが含まれています。
