MERLショッピングデータセットは106個のビデオから構成されており、各ビデオのシーケンスは約2分です。これらのビデオは固定された天井カメラから取得されたもので、食料品店で買い物をしている人々を下から見たものです。各ビデオには以下の5つのアクションの複数のインスタンスが含まれています：「棚に手を伸ばす」（棚に手を伸ばす）、「棚から手を引く」（棚から手を引く）、「手を棚に置く」（手を棚に長時間置く）、「商品を確認する」（商品を手に持っているときに商品を確認する）、および「棚を確認する」（棚に触れているときに棚を見る）。
