内容
学校調査（Censo Escolar）は、国立教育研究研修機構（Inep）が統括し、毎年実施される全国規模の統計・教育データの調査です。これは州および市の教育庁と協力し、国内のすべての公立および私立学校が参加して行われます。
これは、幼児教育、初等教育、中等教育などの基本教育のさまざまな段階と形態を対象とした、基本教育に関する情報収集の主要な手段です。学校調査では、学校施設、在籍生徒、教員職務、学校の動向と成績などのデータを収集します。
これらの情報は、基本教育の全国的な状況を把握するために利用され、教育分野の公共政策の策定やプログラムの実施、給食や通学交通、書籍や制服の配布、図書館の設置、電気設備の設置、学校への直接給付金、基本教育の維持・発展と教育関係者の待遇向上基金（Fundeb）などの公共資源の分配に関する参考となります。
さらに、学校調査で得られた初等教育と中等教育の生徒の成績（合格と不合格）と動向（中退）に関する結果は、国立教育研究研修機構の他の評価（SaebとProva Brasil）とともに、基本教育発展指数（IDEB）の計算に利用されます。この指数は、教育省の教育発展計画（PDE）の目標設定の参考となります。

マイクロデータは、CSV（カンマ区切り値）形式で構造化されるようになり、そのデータはパイプ（|）で区切られています。これにより、オープンソースを含むほぼすべての統計ソフトウェアがデータベースをインポートして読み込むことができます。
データベースが広範囲に及ぶため、ファイルは地理的な地域（北部、北東部、南東部、南部、中央西部）によって分割されており、在籍生徒の変数と教員の変数の両方について同様です。
