私は、リアルタイムの交通情報を提供するより良い方法を見つけたいと思いました。私たち全員が交通監視センサーのデータや、人々のスマートフォンからAppleやGoogleなどにアップロードされるデータにアクセスできるわけではありません。さらに、Googleマップや他のアプリで表示される交通渋滞情報の正確性にも疑問を持っています。そこで、バスも同じ交通状況にさらされており、多くのバスがGPS位置やその他のデータをリアルタイムで送信していることから、バスのデータが交通データの理想的なソースになると考えました。私は世界中の多くのバス会社から利用可能なデータストリームを調査し、ニューヨーク市のMTAが非常に信頼できることを発見しました。
内容
このデータセットは、ニューヨーク市MTAのバスデータストリームサービスから取得されたものです。おおよそ10分間隔で、バスの位置、路線、停留所などが各行に含まれています。また、バスの時刻表からの予定到着時刻も含まれており、バスが予定通りどの程度遅れているか、正時か、あるいは予定より早いかを示しています。

データは、MTAのSIRIリアルタイムデータフィードとMTAのGTFS時刻表データから記録されています。
