土壌は数千種類の異なる生物種（主に細菌）で構成されています。市民科学を通じて、マサチューセッツ州ソマービル周辺の様々な場所からサンプルを収集し、土壌生物のDNAを抽出する手順を実行し、その後サンプルをシーケンシングのために送付します。
